Description Aditya Birla Chemicals (India) Limited engages in the manufacture of chlor alkali products. The company provides caustic soda lye, which is used in the pulp and paper, textiles, soaps and detergents, bleach manufacturing, petroleum products, aluminum, and the chemical processing industry; liquid chlorine that is used in disinfecting drinking water systems, in the manufacturing process of crop-protection chemicals, and in the plastics products; and hydrochloric acid for use in the steel industry, ossein/gelatin, chemicals, and de-mineralization plants, as well as in the manufacture of fuller's earth. It also offers sodium hypo chlorite that is used as bleaching and oxidizing agent, for effluent treatment, as disinfectant, for water treatment, in the manufacture of various medicines, and in sugar industries to inhibit bacterial growth; aluminum chloride used as catalyst in friedel-craft reactions and organic synthesis in pharmaceuticals, chemical intermediates, agrochemicals, dyestuffs and pigments, hydrocarbon resins, and flavors and fragrances; and stable bleaching powder, as well as engages in hydrogen bottling. The company was formerly known as Bihar Caustic & Chemicals Limited and changed its name to Aditya Birla Chemicals (India) Limited in January 2009.
